Shlog is a Slug with envy in his eyes. He sees how much humans adore the TrailSnailz, how they’re spoken to with soft voices, carried in warm hands, and given names and little homes of their own. He doesn't understand what makes them so special. He watches from the edge of their world, aching for that kind of affection, but no matter how close he gets, no human ever reaches for him. While most Slugz are content to remain below the surface, Shlog dreams of being chosen, pampered, loved. And now, he has a plan. If one of the humans’ snailz were to quietly vanish, perhaps he could slip into their place. He’s practiced the smile, rehearsed the charm, he’s certain he could be everything a human wants.
